The AnyScript Model Repository

The model repository is a library of AnyScript models to share between many users. AnyScript is the modeling language used by the AnyBody Modeling System.

You are free to download and use the models from www.anyscript.org. As of March 2009, anyscript.org replaces this site as the official distibution point of the models.

The Motivation

The development of detailed and reliable models of the human body is an enormous task. The human body contains hundreds of anatomical muscles, many of which must be divided into several mechanical units. Each muscle in the body is subsequently described by many parameters describing strength, force-velocity and force-length relationships, parallel and serial elasticity, pennation angle, fiber length, origin and insertion, etc. The other elements of a body model, i.e., joints, bones, connective tissues, must also be described. This means that a full body model will literally contain thousands of parameters.

The motivation behind this effort is that development of body models is such a huge task and so important for the reliability of musculoskeletal analysis that it has to be a collaborative effort.

What we hope

We are hoping that scientists and other qualified users will improve and validate the models we make available here and feed them back into the system for the collective benefit of all.

When you use a model, we encourage you to

Give due reference to the original author if you publish results obtained with the model.
Feed your new or improved models back to us or make them available to users.
Provide your audience with a pointer back to this repository to enable them to find the data you have been using.
Contact the original author(s) of models and propose to do joint work with them if you have creative ideas for using their model and you need assistance.

The history of the AnyScript Repository

The repository has gone through numerous restructurings and versions. There is typically a new version of the repository for each new version of the AnyBody Modeling System, and the new versions of the models are typically not compatible with older versions of the software. Thus, from version 4 and forward we keep older versions of the repository online. The newest version is always recommended, though.

Please download the models from www.anyscript.org. On that site you can also participate in discussions concerning the models and even define your own collaborative development projects. We hope you will participate actively in our community and help in the development of useful and reliable biomechanical models.
